Welcome
Flevoland has beautiful walking and bike paths through many forests. The Horsterwold is the largest deciduous forest of western Europe and is located in the municipality of Zeewolde. The forest is dominated by poplars. Unique in the Netherlands! Ferns, moss and climbers give the forest a fabulous atmosphere. Outside the park you will find access to walking and cycling routes through the forest. You can ride on a paved path to the village. It is possible to ride a mountain bike but also enjoy the walk in the nature. Adventurous walks can be taken to the Stillen Kern: a vast wilderness in the vicinity of the park without paths. The beautiful view of the pond (along the garden) makes the park even more special. The area offers many opportunities to enjoy a relaxing holiday, for example the open-air pool and two 'All-Weather' tennis courts (both free admission). They are just two minutes away!
In the nature reserve De Hoge Veluwe you will find extensive heaths, woods and grassland, small bog lakes and ponds. To explore this natural area, there are bicycles, which guests may use free of charge. Near the Horsterwold is a very impressive golf park (55 hectares). There is a 18-hole golf course with training part. Also in Harderbos (forest) is a golf course. On the water in the center of Horsterwold is a port of call, a marina and beach. The village has several restaurants where you are served great meals.
Would you like to spend a day on the water? Than you can go to Elburg and Harderwijk. Here you can then make a tour across the lake. The Veluwe, for example, is a magnificent recreation area with beach, surfing, swimming, pubs, terraces, etc.
